Getting to Mutemwa
There are 3 ways of getting to Mutemwa, details of each are outlined below:
Your first option is to fly to Livingstone and take a 3 hour road transfer from Livingstone airport.
British Airways, South African Airways and Pro-flight all fly into Livingstone, Zambia on a daily basis arriving around midday. We use a road transfer company based in Livingstone who can then drive you to the lodge which should take about 3 hours.
Mutemwa is easily accessed by road from Livingstone, Katima, Kasane and Mongu and all the above listed towns have tarred roads leading to Mutemwa.
Route from Livingstone: Head west out towards Sesheke for approximately 200kms on tar road (about 90km is pot-holed). Cross the bridge over the Zambezi and follow the road north. Once you pass the turn-off to the Katima border post, it is 50km on a good tar road before turning right at the Mutemwa sign to follow the gravel road into the lodge (4km).
Route from Kasane/Katima: From Kasane cross Chobe and leave Botswana through the Ngoma border post. Cross the Caprivi Strip into Katima Mulilo.
Go through the Katima/Zambia border post and as you drive away from the border post once in Zambia, you will come to a T junction. Turn left and it is 50km on a good tar road before turning right at the Mutemwa sign to follow the gravel road into the lodge (4km).
Route from Mongu: Head south down to Sioma and cross the ferry at Sioma. As you leave the ferry crossing, you will come to a T-junction. Turn left and head south towards Sesheke. After about 1 hour's driving, you will see the Mutemwa Lodge sign on your left and follow the gravel road into the lodge (4km).
Mutemwa has its own private airstrip which is a 1000m grass strip and suitable for planes like Caravans, King Airs and PC 12’s. The airstrip co-ords are: - 17.051625, 23.998989
